A Good Day for Firefighters – Sept 1
The Saddle Complex forest fire is at 25,946 acres this morning (Sept 1) in Idaho and Montana. On the Montana firelines, there was little change and firefighters built fireline toward the old Blue Nose Lookout. Today, crews will secure more strategic areas. Old roads east of Beaver Creek and toward Horse Creek Pass are being cleared to allow easy entry by firefighters if needed.
Four helicopters are helping the ground crews Thursday. The Smoke Monitoring Station indicates “moderate” air quality. It is available on-line. Click here, and on the site select “real time data,” location should be “Montana.”
Regional Forester Leslie Weldon and Fire and Aviation Staff Director Patti Koppenol visited with incident commanders and firefighters Wednesday.
