When you're just sitting around in the Lee Metcalf National Wildlife Refuge, sometimes a photo opportunity literally "pops" up.

This lone mink raised itself up to look around in the tall grass at the Metcalf last week, and photographer Mike Daniels had a few seconds to record the appearance. The furry creature quickly disappeared.

By the way, congratulations to Mike for winning some "Best of Show" and blue ribbons in various photo categories at this year's Ravalli County Fair!

We'll keep featuring his photos here at klyq.com. You can e-mail your favorite photos, too, at contact@klyq.com.
