Is the Afghan War Worth the Costs? – Survey
The tragic shooting of 16 Afghan civilians by an American soldier has put the spotlight back on the United State’s military campaign in the Central Asian country, which has been going on for more than 10 years.
According to a new ABC News-Washington Post of 1,003 adults, 60 percent think the Afghan war is no longer worth the costs, whereas 35 percent think it is still worth fighting. Support for the war has dipped since last summer, when 54 percent didn’t think it was worth it, and 43 percent answered that it was.
Additionally, 54 percent of the recent poll’s respondents say we should pull our troops out of Afghanistan now, even if the Afghan army isn’t ready to take over. The Obama administration claims the military will leave Afghanistan by the end of 2014.
