Airplane Crash West of Lolo Pass Kills Pilot
The lone pilot of a single engine airplane died in a crash Monday morning in the Idaho backcountry.
The Federal Aviation Admistration said the plane was a Lancair Legacy. Its route was from Richland, WA., to Baker, MT, and the pilot had radioed he was having trouble. The crash site was on Blacklead Mountain, west of Lolo Pass, in Clearwater County.
The crash site was found by other aircraft and it was confirmed that the pilot was killed in the crash and was alone in the airplane. The pilot’s name is being withheld until family is notified.
