You'll be exhausted if you try to take in all the holiday events in the Hamilton area this weekend, December 9 and 10. But go ahead and make an attempt. Great things are happening. We've listed quite a few here. Hopefully, we haven't missed many.
Friday December 9:Daly Mansion Evening Holiday Tours - Self-guided tours of the historic building between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday evenings. Adults $9, Seniors $8, children $6. Docents will be in the rooms to tell the history of the mansion.Bitterroot College - Holiday Open House and Grand Re-Opening of the FabLab in the college at 9th and Main in Hamilton from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Refreshments and exhibits, meet the staff and faculty.Downtown Hamilton Association will start the "Follow the Sheep Trail" on its Friday night late opening, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., with 14 knitted sheep placed in various stores. Kids have a week to find them and maybe win one.Bitterroot CASA will have a fundraiser at MineShaft Pasty Company on North 2nd in Hamilton Friday evening from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., with music and adult beverages. Buy a pasty, Pasty Bucks and Lights of Hope to help support the CASA volunteers. The fundraising will continue through December.Ballet Bitterroot will have an original ballet, "The Christmas Toy Shoppe" at the Mary Stuart Rogers Performing Arts Center in Victor Friday night and Saturday night at 7 p.m. $12 for adults and $6 for kids 12 and under.Stevensville Playhouse presents "The Christmas Belles" a fun holiday comedic play about a Texas Christmas pageant that doesn't go as expected. Showtime is 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday. Also plays next weekend.
Saturday December 10:Marcus Daly Hospice Tree of Lights - 25th anniversary of the Tree of Lights ceremony at Marcus Daly Memorial Hospital, with cookie reception in the conference rooms at 3 p.m. with a 4 p.m. program of music, remembrance and reading of the names on the Tree of Lights, which will be lit outside the Hospice entrance at the end of the ceremony.Bitterroot Humane Association "Cookie Walk" and Bake Sale from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the conference room of the BR Board of Realtors office, corner of North 4th and Cherry Street in Hamilton. buy homemake cookies by the pound, also individually priced cakes, pies, breads and more.Bitterroot Valley Chorus Annual Christmas Concert - 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday at the Performing Arts Center of Hamilton High School. $5 donation suggested. A do-not-miss concert of Christmas music.The Bitterroot Valley Model Railroad Club will be running the trains from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. each Saturday until Christmas at the downstairs track layout below Valley Drug and Variety in Stevensville. It's free.
Sunday December 11:Bitterroot Valley Chorus Christmas Concert - 2 p.m. at HHS PAC.Five Valley Accordions Christmas Party at the Rustic Hut in Florence from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Dress up and also enjoy their bake sale.
And high school basketball games have started for the season with all valley schools.
The local Class A high school basketball teams will be at the "Tip Off Tournament" at the University of Montana Adams Field House and Auxiliary gym Friday and Saturday.
KLYQ 1240 AM will broadcast both the Hamilton High School Lady Broncs and Hamilton Broncs Friday night, December 9, starting at 5:15 p.m. The games will also be at klyq.com. Though we won't be broadcasting the Saturday games, you can head up to UM and see the full schedule of games with Montana's Northwestern and Southwestern Division Class A teams at the tournament.
