With the studio system no longer promoting actors into stardom, sometimes it takes circuitous routes to become the next big thing. Eddie Redmayne is now in the loop for major roles, after his turn last year as the lead in 'My Week with Marilyn' and with a cherry role in this year's 'Les Miserables' he now looking to join The Wachowskis' 'Jupiter Ascending.'
Though the trailer won't hit the web until December 17, and the film doesn't hit theaters until May 2013, 'Star Trek Into Darkness' has just released their teaser for the trailer that's coming. Yup, this nonsense again, but at least this one's a minute long.
‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey’ is only two weeks away from release, and we're about to get word on the film. The movie screened today in New York and Los Angeles, and the review embargo for lifts Monday, December 3, at midnight EST. We'll have a review for you then, but until that time here's two new TV spots for the movie.
'Safety Not Guaranteed' director Colin Trevorrow was being buzzed about recently as a possible helmer for 'Star Wars Episode 7.' He recently said he was out of the running (and we may know who the director is), but it's not like he isn't moving on to bigger things. He's now attached (with writing partner Derek Connolly) to Disney's 'Flight of the Navigator' remake.
Take this for what it's worth: Actor Jason Flemyng, longtime Matthew Vaughn collaborator, may have spilled the beans on who's directing 'Star Wars Episode 7' -- that being Vaughn, obviously. In an interview he seems to take for granted that Vaughn has the job before somewhat backtracking. Are the beans spilled?
'Star Wars' rumoring isn't going to stop with just 'Episode 7' even if that picture hasn't signed a director or cast yet. On top of those rumors, we're now going to be hearing gossip about the entire next trilogy, and possibly all the spin-off movies after that. If the internet implodes on itself, it's going to be because of 'Star Wars.' Today's latest news: That they've approached Lawrence Kasdan and Simon Kindberg to write and produce Episodes 8 and 9.
We've seen competing asteroid pictures, competing "Friends with Benefits" films, competing destructive volcano pictures, but in 2012 we're getting competing "Bonding with your parents" movies, both within a week of each other. First comes 'The Guilt Trip' on December 19, and then 'Parental Guidance' on December 25. Now there's a new trailer for the latter.
Yesterday we learned that Michael Arndt had written a treatment for the upcoming 'Star Wars' sequel, currently called 'Episode 7,' but that didn't seem a confirmation that he had the job. Today it looks like his work has been approved and he's the first writer to take a crack at a new 'Star Wars' film.
We're about to enter the heart of darkness for the Oscar season, where a number of big pictures are going to make their bid to be the front runner. But all bets are off until December 25, when 'Les Miserables' hits screens. Now there are two TV spots to sell the scale and importance (and perhaps inevitability) of the film.
Oh boy, we're in for a long road to 2015. That's when we'll get 'Star Wars - Episode 7' in theaters, but from now until then we're going to be dealing with a lot of rumors about the new 'Star Wars.' Today we heard that Matthew Vaughn might be the film's director, and now we're hearing that it's possible Harrison Ford could join the new film.
