The 20nd Annual Ernst Peterson Photograph Montana Contest is approaching the deadline for entries.

Those wanting to submit photos have until February 7th to get them into the Ravalli County Museum. There are various categories and a registration form is available at the Museum on South 3rd Street in Hamilton or at the museum's website. Awards are presented in all categories, along with People's Choice and a Grand Prize award.

Professionals and Amateurs have separate classifications, but all entrants can submit in categories such as: scenic (color or black and white), wild animals, domestic animals, people, flowers, macro (other than flowers), structures, humorous, abstract.

There's a $3 entry fee per photo. All photos must have been taken in Montana, Yellowstone, Glacier Park or the Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness. Digital photos are allowed in all categories.

There is a Junior category for age 12 and under, for any topic, in color or black and white.

During the contest, the photos will be exhibited at the museum, along with a selection of Ernst Peterson's photos of the Bitterroot Valley and Montana. The entry fee for the contest, by the way, helps pay for preservation of the Peterson collection.
