Early on Sunday morning August 5, Bella the dog disappeared after a horrible tragedy that took the life of 8-year-old Jacob Gamble. The dog belongs to Eli Gamble, Jacob’s 5-year-old little brother.  The Gambles were traveling through Montana to Yellowstone for a family vacation when their red Honda was involved in a fatal head-on collision on I-90.

A pickup truck traveling in the wrong direction on I-90 slammed into the Gamble family’s vehicle. The truck was driven by 33 year-old Daniel Martin of Missoula who also died in the crash. The truck was stolen and alcohol containers were found inside the vehicle.

Bella disappeared after the accident, sparking a community effort to find the dog. After many sightings  and failed attempts to rescue the dog, Bella was finally found in Clinton 26 days after her original disappearance by a landowner on August 31, before 8 o’clock.
