Bitterroot Cross Country Skiers Teach for Free
Here’s your chance to get the basics on cross-country skiing with free lessons Saturday, January 18, at Chief Joseph Trailhead.
The free beginner and intermediate “classic” technique will be taught by members of the Bitterroot Cross Country Ski Club, starting at 12 noon. You’re asked to come at least 20 minutes early for sign-up, so the lessons can start on time.
You must bring your own skis.
And, you should dress in layers and bring along snacks and water. You will be warming up as you learn in the 60 to 90-minute long lesson. After the lesson, you’re welcome to use the miles of groomed trails in the area.
The Bitterroot Cross Country Ski Club grooms the trails weekly and has been the main supporter of cross country skiing in the valley.
The trailhead and parking lot is on Highway 43, about a mile east of the Highway 43 turnoff from US 93 at the top of Lost Trail Pass.
