Bitterroot River Rises – Fishing Access Closures

The lowland flooding of the Bitterroot River has caused the Montana Department of Fish Wildlife and Parks to close and restrict portions of some fishing access sites.

The Darby Bridge Access, Woodside Bridge (see photo), Bell Crossing and portions of the Florence Bridge Access have been closed.South of Darby, the campground portion of Hannon Memorial Fishing Access has been closed.

A section of the Bitterroot River north of Woodside had been closed earlier because of a dangerous diversion dam. Officials advised extreme caution if floating on the river.

A partial closure on the Blackfoot River’s Harry Morgan Fishing Access Site affects the campground and boat ramp, but the upper parking area is still open.

Additional access site closures are expected as conditions change.
