Hamilton's and Stevensville's premiere theater groups have opened their winter season plays.

For the next two weekends, Stevensville presents their production of "Finian's Rainbow," the Broadway show that pits Finian McLonergan and daughter Sharon against Og the Leprechaun. The songs will fill the cozy atmosphere of the Stevensville Playhouse, in the "theater district" on Main Street.

The play runs February 24 at 8pm, February 25 at 2pm and 8pm, March 2 at 8pm, March 3 at 2pm and 8pm, and March 4 at 2pm. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door, with children 12 and under- $8 in advance and $10 at showtime. Reservations can be made by calling 777-2722.

In Hamilton, "Thoroughly Modern Millie" is the Hamilton Player's presentation, with singing, dancing and comedy for three weekends.

The story of how Millie comes to the big city to seek her fame and fortune takes some unexpected turns and some dark dealings, but the true spirit of Millie comes through.

The show plays at 8pm February 24 and February 25, with a Sunday February 26 matinee at 2pm, then March 2and 3 at 8pm, with a March 4 matinee at 2pm, and March 9 and 10 at 8pm with a 2pm matinee on March 11. Tickets are $15 for adults and $8 for children. The box office is open 1-5pm Monday through Friday and you can also get your tickets on-line at the Hamilton Players website.
