The rains came to the Bitterroot Wednesday, as predicted. The thunder and lightning accompanied the large weather system that is looping around Western Montana and will continue to bring rain for a couple of days.

The National Weather Service forecast says the rain will begin to let up by Saturday, at the latest and Sunday should be partly cloudy. What about the river level? Right now, the forecasts are not expecting the Bitterroot River to rise above flood stage until maybe late next week, though there are areas of lowland flooding right now along the swollen river. Meanwhile, in Missoula, the flooding continues. Stay off the river!
