Bitterroot Valley’s Long White Cloud
Following another of our numerous rain showers, a long white cloud formed at the base of the Bitterroot Mountains in the valley Tuesday.
The cloud is a combination of the moisture in the air and the effect of a mountain chain, driving the shape of the formation.
Mountain waves have been studied by meteorologists for quite a while. The moisture in the Bitterroot Valley has created even lower ground-hugging clouds, too - fog.
The weather pattern for the next few days includes more rain, by the way.
