Sunday, the Bitterroot National Forest reported a missing case that contained portable weather equipment for use on prescribed fires.

The case, with sensors and solar panels, was no longer in a truck when crews arrived at the scene of a prescribed forest fire near Darby Sunday.

Covering all the bases, the Bitterroot Forest put out a call for any information on the missing equipment.

Sunday night, a member of the public phoned Crimestoppers, after seeing the report on the Sunday evening TV news.

The case had apparently come off the truck between Stevensville and Corvallis. It was found alongside the road. The equipment, valued at about $10,000, was recovered.

The Bitterroot National Forest thanks the public for their help.
