Blodgett Creek Trail 19, Blodgett Creek Campground and the trailhead parking area up Blodgett Canyon west of Hamilton will be closed to the public Thursday, June 16.

A large helicopter will be delivering 40-foot-long logs to the area for use in rebuilding a stock bridge on the Blodgett Creek Trail. Four long logs will be used as the main stringers for the bridge, which is at milepost 3, according to Public Affairs Officer Tod McKay.

The bridge has been undermined by the creek and the old stringers are sagging, according to Bitterroot National Forest officials. Although the new logs will be delivered Thursday, work is not expected to start until water levels are lower in July. The Montana Conservation Corps will take about a month to complete the project. The bridge is funded by the Ravalli County Resource Advisory Committee, McKay said.

The closure June 16 will be from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. If you need more information, contact the Stevensville Ranger District at (406) 777-5461.
