Bluebirds in the Bitterroot Herald the Beginning of Spring
The flash of blue you might see out of the corner of your eye could be a bluebird.
Two types of bluebirds have returned to the Bitterroot Valley. Photographers have been capturing images of both the Western Bluebird (see photo) and the Mountain Bluebird, which is usually up along the mountainsides.
The bluebird houses that were constructed over the past few years have been successful in providing homes for these songbirds.
Bob Danley of the Lee Metcalf National Wildlife Refuge will be talking about the spring birds in Thursday morning's Metcalf Wildlife Journal on KLYQ 1240 AM and klyq.com. The pre-recorded program airs about 7:50 a.m. and we'll also be posting it on the 1240klyq YouTube channel later this week.
