The Western Class A Basketball tournament wrapped up in fine style Monday night in Corvallis, with the Stevensville Lady Yellowjackets edging by the Hamilton Lady Broncs by two points in Overtime - 48 to 46.

The Yellowjackets led throughout the first half, but Hamilton battled back and it was anyone's game in the last quarter and the 4-minute overtime. Stevensville came out on top at the final buzzer.

KLYQ sports announcers Owen Burch and Scott Holland likened the game to a chess match, as the coaches tried different defenses and offenses throughout the hard-fought game.

The Corvallis gym was picked as a neutral place for the game between Hamilton and Stevensville, who had finished 2 and 3 in the Western Divisional in Butte. Since Hamilton had not played Stevensville during the tournament and only two teams advance from the divisional to state, the challenge automatically kicked in.

The Stevensville girls will head back to Butte for the State A Girls tournament this next weekend. Their first game is Thursday evening.

The Stevensville boys will take their first place finish to the State A Boys tournament a week later in Billings - March 7-9. The Yellowjackets defeated Butte Central in the Western Divisional Championship Saturday night 55 to 45.

The Hamilton Broncs and the Corvallis Blue Devils were eliminated from the divisional in games Saturday morning.
