Starting Monday, August 1st, the intersection at South 4th and State Streets in Hamilton will be undergoing a facelift. The intersection is nearest the Bitterroot Public Library.
Crews will be extending the sidewalks out into State Street in the design called "bulb-outs." The construction will improve visibility for pedestrians and site distance for traffic entering State from 4th Street. During construction, 4th Street will be reduced to one lane traffic at times.
Also beginning August 1st, crews will be reconstructing State Street from 8th to 9th Streets, which will close the road for several weeks. The road was recently widened to include curb and gutter from Haynes Field to the Hamilton Middle School. From 8th Street to the school, State Street will be crack sealed and have new asphalt overlay, also closing that section of State for about a week, according to officials. The hope is to complete the work before school starts.
