You’ve probably seen the countless YouTube videos of people so transfixed by their mobile phones that they walk into inanimate objects or fall into fountains.
And while it’s easy to laugh at such incidents, the truth is that distracted pedestrians can cause serious harm to themselves or other people — and now one New Jersey town is taking a stand.

In response to the National Transportation Safety Board-proposed ban on cellphones while driving, the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers tried to defend hands-free devices. They’re “designed to be used in a way that helps drivers keep their eyes on the road,” they said, but now it looks like this defense doesn’t hold water.

Studies about the dangers of using a cell device while driving have produced mixed results — some say talking or texting behind the wheel can increase the odds of a crash exponentially, while others say the perils are few.
Regardless, the National Transportation Safety Board is so convinced of the dangers of “distracted driving” that it’s now called for a nationwide ban on non-emergency cell phone use while driving. Even hands-free devices are not excluded.

Another one of our life-saving events took place out at Arlee High School where nearly the entire school attended our TXTING KILLS MONTANA presentation.
Texting has been proven to endanger drivers up to eight times more than alcohol. We would like to come to your school or business to present our ½ hour program that we hope will deeply and significantly change lives and better our community.
Following our brief presentation today we were so pleased to see that every student signed the "No Texting While Driving" pledge and sported one of those trendy TXTING KILLS thumb bands proudly as a reminder each time they reached for the phone when behind the wheel!
