The Ravalli County Museum will celebrate the Bitter Root flower and the Native American culture Saturday, June 11, at the 36th Annual Bitter Root Day.

The day includes an expanded Farmers Market, starting at 9 a.m. There will be demonstrations of the culture of the original inhabitants of the valley with help from the Confederated Salish Nez Perce in the Flathead.

Live music, lots of fun kids games and plenty of bitter root seeds for sale.

It's not often you get to find a patch of bitter roots blooming. We found one and you can see how the little plant loves the dry, hot weather. Come along on our short video. And, yes, that's a meadowlark singing in the background.
