A reception Friday night at 7 p.m. will open a new exhibit at the Ravalli County Museum that includes objects from China.

"Touching the Surface: An Artist Collects" features objects from Chinese and Tibetan past cultures. Artist/Collector Wes Mills has collected artifacts that are thousands of years old. The display includes circular jade objects and ancient wooden statues.

According to Krista Smith in a museum news release, some of Mills' own artwork is included to show "the connection between collecting, life and art."

The exhibit will be open through April 13, 2017.
