Chrandal Fire – Saturday 7/14 Update
Cooler temperatures kept the Chrandal Fire at about 1,700 acres Friday.
Saturday, winds and storms sere expected. Crews are containing spot fires on the Idaho side of the divide, however poor access, snags and terrain has slowed the direct attack.
Information boards are in place along Highway 93 and the Salmon River Road in Idaho and at the West Fork Ranger Station in Montana on the West Fork Road.
Sixteen structures in the upper Hughes Creek area are threatened, according to a survey Friday. The Alta Ranger Station was wrapped in fire retardant material. A Stage I Evacuation Alert is in effect for the upper Hughes Creek area. By the way, Stage II is evacuation.
