Commissioners Approve Family Planning Grant

The Ravalli County Commissioners will let the Public health Department run a family planning clinic for another year with a Title 10 grant. The 5-member board voted 3-2 to accept the $39,000 federal grant in a 3-hour meeting Thursday, which included testimony from county residents. Commissioners did not like the provisions attached to the money and want to find other funding for the clinic, according to commissioner Ron Stoltz. The motion passed by the commission puts them on track to find other funding for the program for next fiscal year.
Judy Griffin, health department director, said the clinic mainly serves people at or below the poverty in Ravalli County. Over 400 were assisted in the last year.
