It was historic, no matter the score. The Corvallis Lady Blue Devils played in their first ever State Class A girls basketball tournament. They lost that game to Belgrade by three points Thursday night - 53 to 50.

Corvallis went out to an early lead against the Belgrade Panthers and led 12-8 at the end of the first quarter.

The Panthers came back in the second quarter and only trailed by one at the half. The lead changed throughout the rest of the game at the Butte Civic Center. Free throws determined the win for Belgrade with the final score Belgrade 53 Corvallis 50.

Corvallis moves into loser out action at 2 p.m. tomorrow against the loser of the Hamilton-Hardin game Thursday. Belgrade is will play in Friday night's semi-final.

Earlier, the first game of the tournament saw the Columbia Falls Wildcats continue their great season, defeating Laurel 59 to 35. In the second afternoon game, Havre beat Butte Central 55 to 41. That puts Columbia Falls against Havre in the first semi-final tomorrow night. Laurel will play Butte Central in loser out action Friday at 12:30 p.m.
