Daly Mansion Adds More to Annual Mothers Day Tea
The official start of the daily Daly Mansion tours is next weekend, with the Mother’s Day Tea on Saturday May 11 and the first full day of tours Sunday May 12.
The historic building northeast of Hamilton was the summer residence for Copper King Marcus Daly, his wife Margaret and their family.
Mrs. Daly was known for having numerous afternoon teas, and honoring that tradition, the Daly Mansion Preservation Trust hosts their annual Mother’s Day Tea.
This year, the doors open at 10:30 a.m. and the event starts at 11 a.m. May 11th in the sun porch, trophy room, the formal living room. Included will be the Victorian Ladies Tea Guild program, “Dressing in the 1800s” – showing the layers of clothing needed to be fashionable in that time period.
Tea and fabulous food will be served from Noon to 2 p.m. and the rooms and tables will be elegantly decorated.
Musical entertainment is planned by classical guitarists Jan Jost and Barb Shumaker. There will be gift basket raffles, party favors, self-guided tours and photos.
Admission is $25 for adults and $20 for children who are at least 6 years old.
