Daly Mansion Celebrates the Season
Executive Director April Johnson always looks forward to the arrival of the guest of honor at the Daly Mansion Community Christmas Party.
It’s Santa, of course. And he makes a memorable entrance. The staff gets all the visiting children together at the bottom of the main staircase and with a jingle of bells, Santa appears at the top of the stairs and “Ho, Ho, Ho’s” his way down to the cheers of the kids. And the more kids, the better, Johnson believes, with kids under 6 admitted free Saturday Dec 17 from 11am to 4pm.
Admission for adults is $5 and all other children $2. Veterans will be given a dollar off the admission and their kids, no matter the age, will not be charged.
The mansion is decked out with Christmas trees and decorations on every floor, along with music by the Bitterroot Ragtime Society, harp and flute by Jane Shigley and Jean Matthews and piano with Joan Roe. River Street Dance Theater will perform up on the third floor, and there will be cookie decorating, crafting, children’s story time with Mrs Santa and photos with Santa by Spotlight Photo.
The Daly Mansion is northeast of Hamilton on the East Side Highway, and is operated by the Daly Mansion Preservation Trust.
