The Grand Marshals for the 92nd Corvallis Memorial Day Parade this year will be the Operation Iraqi Freedom veterans.

The Parade Theme is "Welcome Home Vets" which goes for all veterans from all wars and actions around the world.

The Corvallis Memorial Day Parade will be preceded by a pancake breakfast at the school, starting at 7am.

Registration for the parade has been available online at, but today just come to the parade at 8am to register your float in front of the The Wild Mare tavern at the corner of Market and 2nd Street in Corvallis. The lineup will be at 9am, with float judging and the parade starts at 10am.

If you're viewing the parade, come early and plan to stay for the Corvallis Community Center carnival at the school, or continue with the Noon memorial services - first at Corvallis Cemetery south of town and then to the Corvallis cut-off bridge at the Bitterroot River. At the cemetery, names of the servicemen and women will be read from every decade and every conflict.

The Wild Mare will have a "Give Back" Bar-B-Que from noon to 3pm. All proceeds will go to the Wounded Warrior Project.

And at the fields of the Corvallis Community Center track, a demonstration of Highlands games will be going on to promote the August Bitterroot Scottish-Irish Festival.

By the way, before the Corvallis events, the Hamilton American Legion Post and Auxiliary will have salutes at the Doughboy statue at the Ravalli County Museum at 8am, and then the River Bridge and Riverview Cemetery.

Our community should be proud of American Legion Post 91 and Auxiliary for their yearly efforts in making this a premiere event.
