Douglas Creek – You Can’t Get There From Here

The roads around Douglas Creek in the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest suffered severe flood damage last spring and summer.
Forest officials have closed portions of roads 707 and 1544 because of the repair needed to provide public safety.
Access to the popular Douglas Creek area has been severely limited due to the road and culvert washouts, with a repair cost over $350,000. The Beaverhead-Deerlodge Forest has applied for emergency funding and has possible alternative solutions for access. Officials do not think the repairs can be made in time for the 2012 hunting seasons.
Officials also noted vandalized public proptery in the areas – closure signs have been taken, chains and locks have been cut and the Douglas Cabin was vandalized recently.
Anyone with information about the vandalism should call the Pintler Ranger Station at (406) 859-3211.
