Early Montana returns on the U.S. House of Representative race show Rob Quist ahead of Greg Gianforte by one percentage point.

With 19 percent of the vote counted, Quist had 81,347 or 48 percent to Gianforte’s 79,344 or 47 percent.

Libertarian Mark Wicks had 6 percent of the vote with 9,795 votes.

In Ravalli County, Gianforte was leading Quist - 6,201 votes for Gianforte and 3,968 for Quist. Wicks had 553. Clerk and Recorder Regina Plettenberg said those numbers were from the absentee ballots that had been mailed in to the Election Office or brought into the Administration Center.

The Hamilton School District money issues initial absentee totals showed voters in favor of the 9.75 million dollar bond issue with 1,634 in favor and 1,451 against. However, the Operating Levy was just the opposite, with 1,466 in favor and 1,632 against.

Bond and levy results from the Hamilton school district’s precincts will be added to those absentee numbers and will be the next numbers we’ll get from Ravalli County.
