Most of the Bitterroot National Forest campgrounds are open this weekend, but here are a few tips to remember:Lost Horse Road is closed because of the Observation Fire.Water systems at the campgrounds are generally not working, so bring your own drinking water.As far as garbage, remember to "Pack it in, Pack it out" and take your trash home.Expect heavier traffic on the forest roads. A lot of people are on vacation this weekend.Lake Como has a parking fee of $5 per car per day. Or you can get a season pass for the whole summer for $30 at Forest Service offices or at Angler's Roost, Lone Pine Conoco, Town Pump South, Bob Wards and Riverside in Hamilton.The Magruder Road has a construction project that has closed the road between Montana and Idaho. On the West Fork (Montana) side, the Magruder Road is open to Paradise, but is closed between Kim Creek Saddle and Magruder Crossing.Fireworks are not permitted on National Forest land. You could be fined.Do not leave your campfire unattended without putting it out ... dead out. You should be able to pick up the coals with your hand.Be ready for changing weather conditions - like thunderstorms.
All forest service offices will be closed Monday July 4th.
