FCC to Help Broadband Access in Ravalli County
A Federal Communications Commission program to support expansion of high-speed internet may help Ravalli County.
Senators Jon Tester and Max Baucus announced Tuesday that the FCC will increase support for the ‘Connect America Fund’ in Montana. The Senators said in a news release that the Bitterroot Valley will benefit from the FCC working with CenturyLink in western Montana.
Jeremy Ferkin of CenturyLink said in areas like Ravalli County “high-speed internet service would not be economically feasible without public-private programs like the FCC’s Connect America Fund.”
Senator Baucus said, “…I’m committed to bridging the digital divide to make sure all Montanans have the high-speed internet they need.”
Senator Tester echoed those sentiments, saying, “High speed internet strengthens rural communities by making it easier for Montanans to get the information they need to take care of their families and connect to the global marketplace.”
