Fire Breaks Out at Missoula Senior Center
A fire broke out at around 6:18 this morning, April 12, at the Missoula Senior Citizens Center.
“Crews arrived on scene to find an attached outbuilding fully engulfed in flames,” said Chad Nicholson, Assistant Chief at the Missoula Fire Department. “Crews were able to extinguish that fire fairly quickly. The fire did extend into the main building a little bit and filled the building with smoke, but we were able to catch the fire before it got a good hold inside the main building.”
Three fire engines, the Missoula Police Department, an ambulance, a fire truck crew, and even Northwest Energy arrived at the scene.
“The fire did burn through a large electrical supply to the building,” Nicholson said, explaining why Northwest energy was on the scene. “That was one of the big risks to our crews there; working under that power line.”
No injuries were reported and no one was in the building at the time of the fire. It is still unclear how much the damages will cost to repair.
Investigators are still at the scene trying to decipher just what started the fire in the first place.
