Crews put out a half-acre fire on private land in the mouth of Blodgett Canyon Thursday evening.

The fire was in a wooded area west of the Whittecar Rifle Range. The Hamilton Volunteer Fire Department responded to the call, along with two crews from the Bitterroot National Forest. Officials say the fire was "human-caused" and investigation is continuing.

Fire danger has been creeping toward the "high" level with the recent 90-degree temperatures in the Bitterroot Valley.
