Five WWII Veterans were Honored by France at Hamilton Ceremony
Four of the five Montana World War II veterans were able to attend a ceremony at the Ravalli County Veterans Monument Saturday.
Deputy Consul General of France Corrine Pereira honored the five men, and presented medals to them and their families Saturday afternoon at the event on the north end of Hamilton.
The program recognizes contributions to the liberation of France in World War ii and is an annual ceremony by French officials.
This year, Bud Olson of Choteau, Edwin Ward and Willard LeCounte of Billings, Paul Winhofer of Glendive and Roy Cattrell of Bozeman were recognized and received their medals Saturday, along with congratulations from the Montana Army National Guard and written remarks from Montana Congressmen.
A 21-gun salute by local American Legion members punctuated the ceremony.
