Friday, the Montana Food Bank Network will be bringing its Mobile Food Pantry to Ravalli county.
The network sends out the mobile pantry to areas that currently are underserved. Even though Ravalli County has three active food banks, the number of people needing assistance is quite large. In fact, the last time the mobile pantry came to the valley - November 2010 - 20,000 pounds of food were donated to almost a thousand people.
The free food distribution will be at the Ravalli County Fairgrounds in Hamilton Friday, August 5, from 11am to 2pm.
The Ravalli Chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans helped bring the mobile pantry to Hamilton. This year, 5 mobile food pantries have distributed over 79,000 pounds of food.
Representatives will also be at the fairgrounds from assistance programs such as SNAP, WIC, Healthy Montana Kids, and Early Head Start.
