Forest Fire Erupts North of Whitehall

The forest fire, in the Bull Mountains of the Beaverhead-Deer Lodge National Forest. There about 70 people on the firelines along with 2 medium helicopters. The fire was started by a lightning strike, officials said.
It is one of two forest fires on the Beaverhead-Deer Lodge Forest, with the other blaze a 300-acre fire northwest of Pony, MT. Volunteer firefighters from the Harrison, Madison and Twin Bridges fire department are protecting structures in the area. One structure has burned.
About 38 firefighters and two helicopters are on the scene. The cause of that fire is under investigation. More firefighters have been ordered by the Beaverhead-Deer Lodge National Forest.
