The Magruder Corridor Road between the Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness and the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness will be closed July 23 and July 25 to allow removal of two culverts.

According to Joni Lubke of the Bitterroot National Forest, the two culverts on Shovel Creek are not expected to handle the drainage of areas burned last fall. The 15-inch culverts will be replaced with larger ones, more than doubling the capacity at 36 inches.

In addition, a French drain will be installed to intercept an underground spring that has caused the road at that location to be soft and prone to ruts.

The closures will start at 7 a.m. and will be in effect until dusk. Also, there will be daily delays from July 22 through August 2 of not more than two hours each. Most will will be less than an hour.
