Frosted Apple Pie Bites Recipe

My family loves it when I make apple pies. I, however, don’t like to make apple pies quite as much as they like to eat them. This is mainly because I make mine from scratch. The dough and the filling are all homemade. This is a bit labor intensive and time consuming.

My husband loves to take apple pie to work and my boys love to take it for lunch at school too. But, pie can be a bit messy to pack for lunch, especially if it didn’t set up all the way and is a bit runny. I was very excited when I ran across this recipe. It solves all my problems when it comes to pie making. It saves me labor, time and is easy to take with you anywhere you go.

Frosted Apple Pie Bites

2 large granny smith apples

2 crescent roll tubes

2 tablespoons butter, melted

1/3 cup brown sugar

5 tablespoons cinnamon-sugar mix

1 tub vanilla frosting

Core and cut each apple into 8 equal slices. Break open the crescent tubes and spread out 8 triangles on each of two greased cookie sheets. Spread the butter on each triangle and then sprinkle the brown sugar over the butter, then sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mix over the brown sugar. Place an apple slice on the tip of each triangle and then roll the crescent up. Bake at 350 degrees for 10-15 minutes or until crescent has a nice gold coloring on top. Remove from the oven.

Take the lid and wrap off of the frosting and warm for about 20-25

seconds in the microwave. Stir the frosting. It should be a bit runny. Take a knife, dip it in the frosting and then drizzle frosting over the top of the bite. Use as little or as much frosting as you like.
