Garnet Shines In the Winter

The Bureau of Land Management is holding a lottery for cabin renters at Garnet ghost town. There are two cabins available to rent from December through April at the site 40 miles east of Missoula.
The Dahl Cabin sleeps up to six for $40 per night and the McDonald Cabin sleeps four for $30 per night. The winter experience requires you to access the site by snowmobile, skis, snowshoes or dog sled.
It’s a uniquely Montana opportunity, but you need to send in an application by November 4th, when the lucky winners will be drawn.
Applications and detailed information can be found at the BLM Missoula Field Office website.
