Get Your ‘Christmas On’ at Stevensville and Darby
Friday, December 6, Stevensville will have their Montana Country Christmas celebration.
It starts with a gathering at the north end of Main at 5:30 p.m., with tree lighting at 6:30 p.m. and a Parade of lights from Veterans Park to Third and Main, where Santa will be making a visit inside Valley Drug from 6:45 to 9 p.m. There will also be a living nativity scene. Horse and wagon rides will be loading up at Cenex Friday night and Saturday. Craft fairs include Saturday’s Booster Club Bazaar at Stevensville High School gym from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
A special social event will happen Saturday night at the Rocky Mountain Bank building. The Stevensville Main Street Association hosts “Splendor on Main” with hors d’oeuvres, wine, auctions and a people’s choice raffle. Tickets are $25 with reservations at 777-3773, according to Joan Prather.
St Mary’s Mission in Stevensville will have Christmas displays Saturday and Sunday, including a nativity scene that will be lit in the evenings through the month.
At the Stevensville Playhouse, “In the Christmas Mood” will be on stage this weekend only, with song, dance, humor and sentiment. Showtimes are 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and a 2 p.m. matinee on Sunday, December 8.
Saturday, the Bitterroot Valley Model Railroad Club will have a holiday run of their trains in the Valley Drug and Variety basement.
Meanwhile, in the south end of the Bitterroot Valley, Darby will have a town-wide celebration on Saturday, December 7, highlighted by a Christmas Parade at about 10 a.m. Christmas bazaars and craft shows are planned at the Darby Community Clubhouse, St Philips Benizi Church and the Sula Community Clubhouse.
The Darby Christmas Tree lighting will be in front of the Darby Library at 6:30 p.m., followed by carols at the Darby Clubhouse at 7 p.m.
Annie Edwards says that this is just the beginning of the winter-long ‘Shiverfest’ in the south valley, with activities planned through the season.
