Hamilton downtown merchants are decorating a newly donated tree and a new area for the annual Christmas tree lighting this Friday. The new location is only a few yards away from the old location - on the same block on Main Street, between the Bell McCall car showroom and the Hamilton USPS Post Office.
Last week, garland, wreaths and giant stockings were hung around the tree, lights were hidden deep inside the limbs and decorative presents and deer were placed on the grass.
The lighting of the tree will be Friday at 6pm, during Hamilton's "A Christmas Stroll," with music from the Montana A Capella Society, photos with Santa, and lots of late evening openings in Hamilton stores and businesses. A portion of Main Street will be blocked off that evening to allow easier movement by pedestrians.
