Hamilton and Corvallis Teams Look Ahead to State Tournaments
The results of the Western A basketball tournament in Hamilton had eight teams advancing to the two State A basketball tourneys next month, both in Butte. Three of those teams are from the Bitterroot Valley.
Saturday afternoon, the Hamilton Lady Broncs took fourth place, losing to Butte Central 44 to 42. Butte led throughout the game, but the Lady Broncs came within a basket of tying the game at the final seconds.
Following that game, the Hamilton Broncs, also playing against a Butte Central team, lost their consolation matchup by a score of Butte Central 53 to Hamilton's 47.
Corvallis Lady blue Devils made it to the Championship match against Columbia Falls, leading to a good position in next week's bracket for Girls Class A State tourney. Hamilton and Corvallis are joined by Butte Central and Columbia Falls from the west.
Hamilton is onto the State A boys tournament March 9-11, also in Butte, and will be joined by Butte Central, Dillon and Polson from the west.
