The Hamilton High School boys and the Sidney High School girls maintained their first round leads to win the State Class A Golf Tournament Saturday at the Hamilton Golf Course.

For the guys, Hamilton shot a two-day total of 637, followed by Polson with 651, Laurel at 656, Billings with 562, Livingston with 666.

With the girls' team scores, Sidney had a two-round total of 740, Whitefish with 761, Lewistown with 788, Billings Central with 807 and Havre with 854.

Hamilton's Max Toenjes won the state individual title, with a two-day total of 144. Liam Clancy of Billings was two shots back with 146 and Carson McDaniel of Polson and Paul O'Neil of Lauren each had 157s, while Tyge Yellenich of Butte Center carded a 158 for fifth. Other Hamilton golfers in the top 20 were Blaine Wetzsteon, tied at 11th with a 162 and Ky Burch tied for 17th with a 164.

Top female golfer was Breilyn Riggin with 163, while Kinsey Irvin of Lewistown took second with 166. Third place went to Tricia Joyce of Butte Central with 168. Fourth place was Dani Flynn of Frenchtown with 170 and teammate Courtney Ockler with 171 for fifth. Hamilton's Melissa Kimp finished in the top 20 with 201.

The Hamilton boys took second place last year, and won the state title the year before.
