Candidates in the Hamilton city election will be at a voter forum Thursday, September 19, at City Hall on South 2nd Street.

The forum starts at 6:30 p.m. and includes a moderated debate-style presentation between candidates for Mayor and councilpersons from Ward 1, 2 and 3.

The Mayoral candidates, who have both indicated that they will attend, are current mayor Jerry Steele and former Ravalli County commissioner Kathleen Driscoll.

Other candidates invited to the evening are:

  • Ward 1 - Kristi Bielski and Melvin Monson
  • Ward 2 - Travis Martinez and Rod Pogachar
  • Ward 3 - Kenneth Bell, Lynette Helgeland and Stacy Lewis
  • Not all candidates will be able to attend, according to organizer Michael Howell.

Howell's newspaper, The Bitterroot Star, and KLYQ 1240 Radio are sponsoring the forum, with KLYQ's Steve Fullerton as the moderator. There will be opportunities for questions from the audience.

This year's city elections in the Bitterroot are mail-in ballots. The ballots will be sent to registered voters in Hamilton, Darby and Stevensville during the week of October 16 and are due back in the County Election Office by November 5th.
