The Hamilton Downtown Association closed off a block of Main Street, filled it with families and lit the new community Christmas Tree Friday evening. The singing was handled by some cute kids from the Sunshine Generation group and the Montana A Cappella Society, which also led the crowd in a rendition of Jingle Bells after the tree was "brought to light." Then Santa took over, occupying a bench beside the tree and letting the little ones make their wishes for Christmas.
The downtown area had nice, warming burn barrels on the corners and there were hot beverages available, with the stores open late on Black Friday.
