Hamilton Celebrates Outdoor Recreation at ‘First Friday’
The “First Friday” theme in downtown Hamilton this month will be Outdoor Recreation … and we have lots of that sort of thing around here!
The merchants are blocking off North 3rd Street between Bell McCall and Chapter One Book Store. In that area June 6th from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., you’ll find lots of groups from fishermen to hikers. And throughout the town, groups are partnering with members of the Hamilton Downtown Association for separate displays.
At the 3rd Street location, you can get information about Trout Unlimited, the Bitter Root Water Forum, the Lost Trail Bike Fest, aquatic care from Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks, Bitterroot Ridgerunners and Ravalli County Off-Road User Association, Bitterroot Back Country Cyclists, Hamilton Trap Club and more.
At the stores:
Earlier in the day, you can take a “Walking Audit” tour of Hamilton, starting at Hamilton’s City Hall on South 2nd Street at 11:30 a.m. The walk will take about an hour and half and will show “the good, the bad and the ugly” of walking in Hamilton. Melinda Barnes of Bike Walk Montana will direct the tour.
Then, at 6 p.m. the “Out on the Townie” bike ride for all ages will leave from Third and Main for a tour of the designated bike routes in town, with ‘pedal-cranked’ ice cream at the end.
Of course, the stores throughout Hamilton will be open late (until 8 p.m.) for First Friday June 6.
