Hamilton High School Gets Ready for Fall Sports
The Hamilton High School Fall Sports meeting is Tuesday, August 9, at 6:30 p.m.
The meeting will be in the Hamilton Performing Arts Center (PAC) and will include general sports participation requirements with Activities Director Darrell Holland and then individual sports with the coaches for Golf, Soccer, Cross Country, Volleyball, Football and Cheerleading.
Parents and students are all urged to attend.
The Roaring Lion Fire Incident Command Center is also at the high school, so use the south entrance to the PAC. Otherwise, just walk on past all the firefighters.
All Valley Sports Physicals at Marcus Daly Memorial Hospital
Again this year, Hamilton's Marcus Daly Memorial Hospital is offering high school and middle school sports physicals. The physicals will be done by hospital doctors Wednesday evening from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the hospital's Rehabilitation Center (on the west end of the building.
The hospital staff donates their time to make sure the kids are healthy for active sports. The individual cost of $25 (cash or check, please) goes right back to the student's school sports budget. For instance, a student from Corvallis will pay $25 and the money will go to Corvallis schools. Hamilton students' fee will go to Hamilton athletic funds. Since the program started a few years ago, the hospital has donated over $78,000 back to the schools.
Over 100 students attended the first evening of physicals last week. Also, physical therapist Travis Williams consulted with students about their aches and pains and preventative measures.
Parents need to accompany their children. Get there early, but have the proper forms filled out. The sports physical forms are available from valley coaches and on-line at the hospital's website.
