Hamilton Mulls Laws on Cell Phone Use while Driving
The Hamilton City Council has a public hearing Tuesday on regulation of cellphones and other handheld devices for drivers.
The council is considering adding amendments "to regulate the use of hand held electronic communication devices wile operating a motor vehicle."
Other towns and state governments have been cracking down on cellphone use, especially texting while driving, which adds to the danger of distracted driving.
The council will have the public hearing on the ordinance during their regular city council meeting Tuesday at 7pm in the council chambers upstairs at Hamilton's City Hall on South 2nd Street.
The council also has a number of zoning requests from throughout the city to either establish zoning for an area or change the category.
