The fairgrounds have been bustling with activity the last few weeks, the final exhibits are being brought in Tuesday, the carnival rides are being assembled and the livestock are getting used to their new stalls, pens and cages.

Meanwhile, the Bitterroot Chamber of Commerce has been registering people for the official opening event of the fair, the Ravalli County Fair Parade.

The lineup for the floats,  marching units and fancy and antique cars and tractors will be about 9 a.m. Wednesday morning, with the parade starting on the west end of Main Street in Hamilton at 10 a.m. KLYQ will be announcing the individual entries on the downtown public address system from the front of Bitterroot Drug on the 200 block of Main. Judging of the entries will have been completed before the parade, so those awards will be announced as the folks pass by.

Following the parade, the crowds head to the first day of the Fair, which runs Wednesday through Saturday. KLYQ will again host the "Entertainment Stage" on the north end of the fairgrounds. We have one of the biggest tents on the grounds for a nice break from the sun and some great local entertainment planned every afternoon.

Wednesday on the stage will be the 5 Valley Accordions at 1 p.m., a performance by Ballet Bitterroot at 3pm and prize-winning poems at 4 p.m. Dominic Farrenkopf will host that presentation, where the Ravalli County Fair poetry contest winners will be offered a chance to read their own poems to the crowd.

Thursday, at the Entertainment Stage, the Country Step Cloggers kick things off at 1pm, followed by Clem Small and Friends with bluegrass and accoustic music at 2pm, Ballet Bitterroot again at 3 p.m. and Charla Bauman at 4 p.m.

We'll highlight more about the fair in further articles right here on our website. More pictures, too!
