Hamilton School District Plans Public Meetings on Levy
Two trustee positions and a $485,000 levy are on the May 6th Hamilton School District election. Two public forums are planned this month.
Running for the two 3-year terms on the school board are three candidates – Elke Olbricht, Jim Shea and Lee Tickell.
The levy election is on the ballot for a variety of reasons. The majority of the money will be used for Ongoing Operations and the new job-training Career Pathways Program. Funding would also go to the Keystone and the Performing Arts programs. Money would also be used to lower the high school and middle activities fees, among the highest in the Western A schools. The levy would also help keep the community facility rental rates at a reasonable level.
The public is invited to ask questions any day during business hours at the administration building.
The first public forum will be Thursday April 10 at the Hamilton High School Performing Arts Center. The session at the PAC will start at 6 p.m. Another session will be held April 22.
The election polling place will be Hamilton High School May 6 at the gymnasium from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
